Tanner Bradley Hobson

SURPRISE! We had our baby! Tanner Bradley Hobson was born on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at 2:11 p.m. He weighed 4 lbs 1 oz and was 17 1/2 inches long. I know that seems pretty small, but it's actually a pretty good size for being 2 months early. Yup, he was a BIG surprise!

I had the flu that weekend and on Sunday morning (Father's Day) I started having contractions. I called Labor and Delivery several times both Sunday and Monday and they told me that I was probably dehydrated and that I should lie down and drink a lot of water. I decided I could hold off going in until my doctors appointment on Tuesday morning. When I arrived, I went straight to Labor and Delivery where they immediately started monitoring me. During each contraction, the baby's heart rate would drop and before I knew it, I had several doctors and nurses in my room. They started putting in an IV, doing an ultrasound and preparing to take me into the OR. It turns out I was already dialated to an 8! Aaron was next door at Costco feeding the kids lunch so I had to call our friend Ally to see if she could come take the kids so Aaron could join me during the delivery. Thank goodness for wonderful friends! She was there in no time and Aaron made it over in time to give me a blessing. It all happened so fast. I ended up having to have another C-Section, but this time under general anesthetic. I was NOT excited about having to be put under, but it was definitely the best thing for the baby. I was so happy to wake up and have Aaron, Stacey and my kids right there beside me. Stacey says I said a lot of crazy things, but I must have still been out, because I don't remember any of it!

Tanner is doing really well for being born so early. He was on oxygen for a couple of days, but is breathing room air now. He still has some apnea (he forgets to breathe) but the nurses say that is so common with preemies, and for the last few days he has been able to recover on his own without any stimulation. His feedings are up and the nurses are fortifying his milk with 24 calorie packs to fatten him up. He is being well taken care of at the Intermountain Medical Center NICU. He is such a good baby and we can't wait to have him come home! We're not sure when exactly that will be, but we are still really excited.

I want to apologize to all my friends and family who just recently found out or didn't even know I was pregnant. I'm so sorry! I thought I still had time to spread the good news!

Del Sol Lagoon Day

June 7th was our big Del Sol Lagoon Day. We started the day off with a nice lunch and raffle (which of course we didn't win anything) and then we headed over to the rides ... the kid's rides that is. We spent the rest of the day waiting in line to go on the boats, the airplanes, the "Nemos" etc. We had so much fun!

Going for a ride on the Train. The kids loved seeing all the animals.

The cars were their favorite ride of the day. Each time they went on the ride we had to pull them out of the car and drag them to another ride.

Waiting in a long line to go on one of the kid's rides.

Here's the kids riding the airplanes. Don't you just love Carter's aviator sunglasses!

Brock and Carter were so excited to ride the boats, but they each wanted to be in a different color of boat. To this day, they remember what color of boat they rode in.

Lunch With Aunt Stacey

The kids and I met Aunt Stacey downtown at the Gateway for lunch and a little shopping. It was a nice, hot day and there were tons of kids playing in the Olympic fountain, so we stopped for a while to see what my kids would do.

Aubrey was the first one to want to take her shoes off to play in the water. She didn't jump right in, but kept getting closer and closer until she was standing directly over one of the fountains. We had to run over to Old Navy and buy her some new shorts.

Brock eventually took his shoes off, but never got close enough to get wet.

Here's Carter in his usual spot ... as far away from the water as possible. He had a great time pushing the strollers all over the sidewalk.

Grandpa's Boat

On our way out of town, we decided to stop by Lucky Peak and take a ride in Grandpa's Boat. The kids weren't so sure about it at first, but after just a few minutes Brock was driving the boat and Carter (who freaks out about getting the tiniest drop of water on his clothes) was ready to jump right in. Aubrey (who is usually our bravest child) didn't love it so much, but I realized why when we got home and she puked all over. Poor girl had the flu!

Aubrey trying to enjoy the ride.

Brock driving the boat. Grandpa probably lost about a half a tank of gas in the 2 minutes Brock was at the wheel. He took us for quite the wild ride.

Grandma, Carter, Haley and Aubrey

Carter pulling up his sleeves getting ready to jump in the water. We hung him over the side of the boat and let him put his hands in the water, but he wanted to get all the way in like daddy did. Totally out of character for him!

Chad and Sarah Zwygart - May 24, 2008

Chad and Sarah were married on May 24, 2008 in the Boise, Idaho temple. It was a nice, sunny day and everything was beautiful ... especially the bride! The weather was kind of sketchy all weekend, but Saturday turned out to be the most perfect day for a wedding. Our prayers were answered! Welcome to the family, Chad!

This is Sarah's gorgeous cake that my amazing mother-in-law made.

Getting a Little Too Brave!

The kids spent the majority of their days in Boise on the tramp. By the time we left, they all had gotten a little too brave!

Memorial Weekend in Boise

We were finally able to get out of Utah and take a little family vacation to Boise over Memorial Weekend. Aunt Sarah was getting married on Saturday, May 24 and Uncle Sam was having his "farewell" on Sunday, May 25, so it was a very busy, fun-filled weekend. The kids loved running around Grandma and Grandpa Hobson's yard ...

And jumping on the tramp ....

And swinging ...

And getting lots of attention from everyone around!
We were all extremely exhausted by the end of the day!

Fun Times at the Park

The kids love to play at the park! I try to take them as often as I can, but it is kind of hard by myself. They all love the swings, especially Brock! They also love the rock wall and the slides.

Our Little Songbird

All my kids love to sing, but Carter sings nonstop! He sings in the bath, in the car, at the dinner table, on the phone, and he even sings himself to sleep every afternoon. He loves to put on concerts and is usually not shy about singing for people he doesn't even know. I got this clip just before his nap the other day.
